Savoury Oats

A different and delicious way to eat your oats and get your veggie intake for the day!

Cut up about a cup of vegetables, anything from your fridge. My favourite veggies to use are mushrooms, spinach or silverbeet, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower and peas or corn from freezer.

Cook half a cup of oats in 1 cup of water. Add in the veggies 5 mins before the oats are cooked. For leafy greens, add them in last.

Miso based – mix a spoon of miso paste in a bit of hot water and stir into the cooked oats once you turn off the heat. Boiling miso paste kills the good bacteria. You can also add in some grated ginger and sesame oil. Top with spring onions and toasted sesame seeds if you have it.

Tomato based – add in some tomato puree, garlic, oregano or basil and cumin. Top with some grated parmesan, fresh basil or parsley and extra virgin olive oil.

Top with a fried or poached egg if you please!
