If you’ve run out of bread and need something to make a wrap for lunch or some chapati to go with a curry, don’t worry if you have flour in the pantry!
I used wholewheat atta flour (finely ground flour), but you can use regular wholemeal or plain flour or a mix.
Ingredients (makes 3)
- 1 cup wholemeal or plain flour
- 100-120ml water
- pinch of salt
- drizzle of oil
Mix ingredients in a large bowl and knead for 2-3 minutes
Roll into a ball, cover and let rest for 10-20min
Divide dough into 3 pieces and roll each ball with a rolling pin until 1-2mm thin
Heat a heavy-based pan on med-high flame and cook flat bread 30sec on one side then flip
Bubbles with start to form and the bread should start to puff up
Flip again every 30sec until both sides are evenly cooked with some brown spots
Keep covered with a damp tea towel while you cook the other breads so they keep warm and soft
